![]() ![]() CHAINSAW - percussion When Chainsaw was 23 years old, he was traveling around the world with Colin. One day, Chainsaw got tired of listening to the same songs over and over again so he thought that he should make some of his own noise. "Actually Colin made me start so that he could keep his rhythm, he has trouble with that sometimes." MUSICAL INFLUENCES Chainsaw's introduction to Jamaican music started with Bob Marley. Colin introduced him to all these guys with names he always has a hard time remembering. Artists such as Ken Boothe, Desmond Dekker, Toots, Jackie Mittoo, Jimmy Cliff, The Itals, Gregory Issacs, Israel Vibration, Alpha Blondy, Burning Spear, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, Don Carlos, and of course the Skatalites, the Specials, Hepcat. Chainsaw also likes the Clash, Herb Alpert and his Tijuana Brass, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, Louis Armstrong, The Greatful Dead, and a lot more. FUNNIEST BIG SOUND EXPERIENCE: "I hit the standby button on the EMX 2000-50 too early on our television debut on KUSI. On top of it all the gain was set too high. It all resulted in a loud feedback that sent the news anchorwoman jumping clear out of her seat, durring the live broadcast." WHAT CHAINSAW LIKES TO DO BESIDES MAKING BIG SOUND: "Teach my dog Spanish comands and go for long hikes with my dog Kai. I particularly enjoy spending my spare time in Spanish speaking countries, eating avocados, and sipping on freshly limed cold beer. One day when The Big Sound is rolling in the sour-dough, I will be spending the non-touring season on a boat or in an old trusty truck searching for beautiful places. At the same time I love nothing more than spending every free moment in my home town, riding my bike, exploring and marveling the world we live in." "Between songs, I like to surf, fish, tend to my veggie and native gardens. Nothing makes me more happy than watching birds all day while walking miles of desolate beach and getting payed for it."
